So apparently on Twitter today, Africans are accusing African Americans of stealing their culture and they don't see the irony in it :wtf:

A few tweets I pulled up:

Excuse me,

but isn't House music big in South Africa? Don't they have Nollywood films about Tupac? Isn't Afrobeats heavily influence by rap? Isn't there soul food restaurants in Kenya? Don't kids in Johanessburg and Cape Town dress like Black urban youth? :wtf:

Is this a legitimate argument? Am I tripping? :wtf:

This is why we need to reaffirm African American identity. They think they can leech off our culture then have their own culture as some exclusive culture that makes them "unique" @K.O.N.Y @KidStranglehold @IllmaticDelta @Ed MOTHEREFFING G @kayslay :mindblown:

Aframs rarely ever appropriate anything from anyone, African's included. Only some very Afrocentric Aframs will dress in African attire (dashikis for example) for the most part. Not sure what these people are talking about:rudy:

They want attention from AA's and the diaspora so bad...

Yeah like the most influential black culture in the world wants to steal from Africans.

They're retarded which is why I never really cared for that pan-African garbage. This type of mentality from Africans is nothing new.

I say we AA's and other diasporans should just focus on building with each other.

Apparently our culture is only prominent and ok to steal because we live in America. Its okay for Lupita to play an African American slave and a Nigerian to play MLK but we can't wear traditional African garb :russ:

And if simply living in America makes your culture visible then why isn't Asian, Arab and Hispanic American culture the dominant culture for those races :ohhh:

While twitter can be used for good, I noticed that most smart people only stick to twitter for gossip and trolling. Majority of the people who use twitter as some serious outlet for discussion tend to be idiots, ie.See most of the hashtags started that are suppose to be "Activist movements".

We should be using twitter to network and then have the real dialog in person/offline, I`m at a point now where I don't take anyone serious who partakes in twitter rants, because those types are usually too scared, or so much a non factor that they cant do these things in real life.

Thats just my observation though.

There is more modern afro diasporic (new world black) influence in modern Africa than there is modern continental African influence on modern, new world blacks.
