Widow of Nelson Frazier decries former tag partner as fraud

Nelson Frazier was a man who was literally larger than life standing 6’9” and weighing nearly 500 pounds at one point in his career. Whether working as Big Daddy V, Viscera or as Mabel from the popular tag team Men on a Mission, Frazier was well liked and respected within the business. When Frazier passed away suddenly in February from a massive heart attack, the wrestling world as well as his friends and family were stunned.

A panic started to set in almost immediately since Frazier had no insurance, his bookings had been slow due to injury (he had broken his arm a few weeks before he passed) and even though he had been a SuperStar in the WWE off and on from 1993-2008, there was not enough money to pay for his funeral and the other expenses a sudden loss can burden a family with.

The outpouring of love and support from the wrestling community commenced almost immediately and one man, Sir Mo Bobby Horne, longtime friend and tag team partner, took it upon himself to organize a gathering of funds to help offset any debt Frazier’s widow Cassandra would incur.

According to sources several thousand dollars were raised including a large sum that was brought in by the wrestling brethren in the Mid-Atlantic, where Frazier and Horne first got their start. According to Cassandra Frazier, she received less than $100 from Horne when all was said and done.

“I initially thought no one cared, no one remembered Nelson,” Cassandra said. “I thought how can these people be so cruel but then I found out they did care and so many tried to help but I never received a dime that was sent to Bobby (Horne).”

Almost immediately after Frazier passed Mo started to solicit donations and contributions to help pay for the funeral expenses of his former tag team partner and fans were directed to send money to his (Mo) PayPal account. Though later as the process developed fans were given the option of sending money directly to Cassandra via a physical mailing address. Even though sending money directly to Frazier’s widow became an option, Horne is said to have received a greatly amount of money, thought to be in the thousands, that Cassandra claims she received none of.

“I don’t know what Bobby did with all that money but he didn’t pass it along to me and I know he said he paid for Nelson’s funeral and stuff and he’s a liar,” Cassandra said vehemently. “If he paid for Nelson to be cremated and for his urn, then why did I have to sell almost everything in our house? I have almost nothing left. I have had to move so many times since Nelson passed and you know, if I would have gotten anything at all from Bobby, I might have been okay.”

The cost of cremation services average $2,250 with an urn of ceramic, pewter or stainless steel ranging from $150-$200 though some, depending on the material used can be priced less or more, especially if the urn is handcrafted or otherwise specifically designed with those topping out around $700. With information that has been gathered from sources about the amount of money donated, it is safe to assume that more than enough money was raised to cover the cost of the funeral expenses and more. Though the amount of money is not in question, what happened to the funds and whether they were misappropriated is a topic of debate and has left a number of people, other than Cassandra Frazier, wondering what did happen to the money they raised and donated.

Cueball Carmichael, a longtime ring veteran and friend of Frazier who helped raise several thousand dollars on his own had this to say, “If this turns out to indeed be a scam I am greatly disappointed in the people involved. I openly tried to help a fallen brother’s family when he no longer could and to find out there could be improprieties is disheartening.”

“If this is indeed proven to be true and money came from many different states this will no doubt be reported to Federal authorities by myself,” Carmichael added.

Outside of the money passed along by Carmichael, hundreds of fans also sent money directly into the PayPal account of Horne and when confronted with the accusations about possible mishandling of the money, made by Cassandra Frazier, and asked to provide proof (receipts, bills of sale) Horne said, “I have nothing to prove to anyone.”

At one point Horne was shilling a “shoot” DVD featuring Cassandra Frazier touting that any number of stories would be included on the DVD including backstage dirt on a number of former and current WWE stars. Horne offered the DVD as a “pre-sale” and fans, out of curiosity as well as a sense of trying to help Cassandra Frazier, ordered and paid for something that never made it out of the planning stages. It is unknown how many copies were ordered or whether those who did make the purchase received refunds.

“I never received anything from the benefit show that was held for Nelson,” Cassandra opined. “All I got from that was some money I made selling Nelson’s pictures. Bobby also said he was trying to get money for a headstone, Nelson was cremated, he don’t need a headstone.”

Horne denies having asked for money for a headstone saying, “Don’t come at me with bullsh** about Nelson’s services. I didn’t solicit any funds for no headstone.”

“My side was to handle the details of Nelson’s service, all the money went towards Nelson’s service,” Horne added.

“The church (where services were held) was donated, so was the food and everything else I paid for by selling everything,” Cassandra claims further disputing Horne’s version.

“He’s a liar plain and simple. He was always asking people for money for his kidney transplant and his dialysis on Facebook but hardly at all since Nelson died. He spent all that money on himself and his dialysis, he’s a scumbag and I will tell him that to his face. What he done is illegal and he should have to pay every cent back,” Frazier said emphatically.

“My partner died without insurance and no money, I helped lay him to rest (the) best I could with what funds we had to work with,” Horne stated.

“I’m willing to take a lie detector test, any time, any place and prove I never got any money from Bobby Horne, you ask him if he is willing to do the same,” Frazier said. “Nelson didn’t even like him, he didn’t trust him, didn’t want him over to the house so why did I believe him when he said he would help me I don’t know.”

If that's true it's wrong, but him spending the money on dialysis makes it a little less shady to me. It's not like he spent the money on escorts or something.
