Honestly i just started listening to dude the past few years (mainly because of SlaughterHouse) and i already got him as one of the upper echolon lyricists ive ever heard. The word "beast" describes him perfectly. Dude is just amazing to me lyrically. Obviously he doesnt have that mainstream appeal, but i dont care about any of that. My fav rappers aint in the limelight anyway.
So does anybody here think he's wack? If so, why? What does he lack to you?

Hes mechanical...

Dude is truly one of the most lyrical MCs ever but I can't feel that shyt. Even when he makes the heart felt joints...it just feels like hes over rapping and sells the songs short.

Dude is amazing though but something is seriously missing. All of Slaughterhouse has faults though and all lack something one of the other group members can do.

Budden - Lyrics, Multis, Deep heartfelt songs, wordplay but can't flow like the others.

Joell - Good at everything I said Joe was good at and can flow crazy also but hes not believable and has corny punches alot.

Royce - Has everything I said the other two has, most complete rapper in the group and is very believable but his window passed when a white rapper with the same skillset became a superstar.

Exactly. He sacrifices flow for lyrics. He tries to fit in a lot in his verses. Some songs you can tell he has memorised his lyrics rather than writing them down, which means he's focused on remembering the lyrics instead of flowing naturally

No. One of my favorite rappers( eLzhi) doesn't have commercial appeal either. Dude can just plain out spit. Thats all i care about. If you a real head you could care less about the "commercial" aspect of hiphop. Matter fact, most of the cats who i enjoy the most dont have that "commercial appeal". I dont even think Cole has it, but he's doing it somehow.
But at the end of the day, Crooked I IS "succeeding in rap". Dude is making a living off of his talent and is also highly regarded and respected.
