So for about 2 weeks they played all Beyonce 24-7 (After the news format station couldn't hang on financially anymore)............................who knew Beyonce had a track with Stevie Wonder (nice track too):ohhh:................but unless you are brainwashed.... :lupe: ..... I mean part of the Beygency that got real old............but I can dig it for station going through transition....and out of that has been birthed I would argue the greatest current terrestial hip hop station in the U.S. right now... :blessed:

Houston folks tell me I'm lying???? There are two other hip hop stations, but they play the typical songs you would hear on any other hip hop station.....the same 22 songs 24 hours a day...:trash:

I could be wrong.....but
Houston got the first authentic Classic Hip Hop Station......they are playing everything from Kool Moe to Outkast to NWA to early Scarface to Bone Thugs to Lil Jon to Beastie Boys to Missy Elliot back to back..... I've made jokes multiple times about one day there would be an oldies but goodies station for hip hop......it appears to have arrived earlier than expected....its a beautiful thang .... :wow:

I have bluetooth so I can listen to all the endless music I desire in the car, but its something special about hearing classic hip hop music on terrestial radio. And the beauty is the amount of music they can play is endless...no need to repeat the same songs.

When I say Classic ...... I don't mean the oldies R&B station playing an 80s hip hop tracks once in awhile...I'm not talking about the community radio station that has one hour one night a week that plays hip hop ...... or a station that plays Throwback Thursday during rush hour ....... :scust:NO....this is all the hip hop from the 80s, 90s, and apparently early 2000s...... NO New Friends Music :sas2:.......

Is there a terrestial radio station anywhere that does this??

We made it!!! Oldies Hip Hop is Official !!!!! :old:

I want to make some requests for Nas, Wu Tang, Mos Def/Talib....I see they doing generic popular songs, but I'm actually hearing some stuff I've never heard before too....

Do they play All Classic Hip Hop 24-7.

Granted this format they doing just started....but I think they found a nice niche. I'm curious to see what their ratings going look like in a month too.

Right I just happened to have it on that station, cut the radio on ...and was like oh snap :dwillhuh: they not playing Beyonce no more...but instantaneously knew the direction they were going... :takedat:

I know a lot of transplants, like myself, that support this shiit. Hell even if you from Houston, and if you lil older, you appreciate this.

These stations need to start streaming on the net.

Second best after Kday.

The hell is K-Day? :dahell:

And the Boom is just :ahh: Listened to it on the way back from Rosenberg. It's even better than the stations on Satellite radio.

EDIT: I found out what it is. I guess I should read the whole thread before commenting.

Boom 92.1 FM bounded onto the airwaves Oct. 8 in the spot previously occupied by News 92 FM, replacing newscasters, J.P. Pritchard and Lana Hughes, with the Beastie Boys and Snoop Dogg, according to the Houston Chronicle.

On Oct. 13, the station officially transitioned into what Radio One Inc. (Nasdaq: ROIAK), the Maryland-based company that owns it, is describing as the first major-market classic hip hop station in the country, reports the Chronicle.

News 92 went off the air on Oct. 8, posting a statement on its website: “We’d like to thank the News 92 staff for their outstanding service, our advertisers and each of you, our listeners and Web visitors, for your support. This difficult decision is a result of sustained poor ratings performance and significant financial losses over the past three years despite the substantial financial and human resources we invested.”

Radio One first launched the 24-hour newsstation in November 2011. According to the Chronicle, the station’s 47 employees were let go.
