CONYERS — A 21-year-old Conyers woman was killed Wednesday night in a shootout that apparently broke out over the sale of some hair products.
According to the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office, a male and a female drove to a subdivision in south Rockdale County to sell hair weaves to Christina Menzies of Covington.
The victims reported they began speaking with Menzies when a group of people, including a woman who is believed to be Christina Menzies’ sister, Jennifer Menzies, came from the bushes toward the victim’s truck, one of them pointing a handgun, according to a press release from the RCSO.
“They exchanged gunfire and Jennifer Menzies of Conyers was shot,” the release states.
Christina Menzies reportedly left the scene in a vehicle with Jennifer Menzies and was heading on Ga. Highway 138 toward Rockdale Medical Center when an RCSO deputy stopped the car.
The deputy called for an ambulance to take the victim to Rockdale Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead, the release states.
Deputies interviewed the two armed robbery victims and witnesses at the hospital and the crime scene, the release states.
Christina Menzies, 19, of 60 Oakwood Lane, Covington, was arrested and charged with being a party to the crime of armed robbery and making false statements.
As a result of a lookout, deputies captured Jaquan House, 20, of 210 Odyssey Turn in Conyers, near the scene. He was charged with armed robbery, according to the press release.
Deputies are searching for two more possible male suspects. The RCSO has enlisted the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service Southeast Regional Task Force to help in the effort.
“This is a concentrated, multi-jurisdictional investigation and more charges may be forthcoming,” the press release states.
