Earlier, the Moncton Hospital confirmed two people have been admitted with gunshot wounds. The shootings occurred in the north area of the city.
Sean Gallacher, a resident near the area where police are concentrating their search, said he heard what he now believes were gunshots. He initially thought his daughter had dropped some toys on the floor above him.
"I was downstairs and heard a few bangs," Gallacher said.
"I went to check but she hadn't dropped anything. Then I heard the news and realized what it actually was."
Residents who live near the Moncton Coliseum, Worthington Ave, Preston Cres., and Elmhurt Dr. are being urged by Mounties to stay inside and lock their doors.
According to the RCMP, the shooter is hiding in a wooded area in the Pinehurst area.
Anyone with information about Bourque is asked to call 911.
This is a developing story. More details to come.
