On some level, I feel like there's some kind of gut feeling of fukk it across the political spectrum simply due to how our "democracy" is and how little what the public thinks affects the government's decisions. That's easily remedied with actual democracy but the feeling is there when certain matters seem extremely urgent like addressing climate change and for others, social issues as a way of holding onto things in a society that's moving past their view of the world.
