Simple question brehs. In the year 2014 do you believe black people in America are oppressed? And list your reasons for why you believe what you do.

I think our image is terribly oppressed more than we ourselves are individually on a daily basis, and "image is everything"

We are oppressed more than other races, but not to some crippling point that we can't over come it, but before we can overcome it when have to have a self respecting image which is going to take at least another 200 plus years to create

of course. the very fact that black people are forced to live here is a crime because we didn't choose to immigrate here. They say we're free to leave which is unrealistic considering the costs of relocation. if the average joe gets jailed/prisoned for kidnapping, murder, theft and brutality then whites shouldn't be able to benefit from those crimes with no recourse. Every form of systematic oppression black people fought against in the 60s is still in place. Disparities in housing, education, employment and self determination are obvious.

You have the destruction of the Black family, school to prison pipeline, lack of healthcare and educational opportunities. Many think because of the promotion of a select few individuals (Oprah,Michael Jordan, Bill Cosby etc.) that there is "proof" that Black people are not oppressed. The fact of the matter is that we don't even realize that we are oppressed. All of these problems stem from the lack of our own identity and how disorganized we are as a people. These the are effects of our enslavement, colonization, and indoctrination through hundreds of years. The system of oppression that we encounter is running on autopilot now. What we witness today are just the effects

I disagree that it isn't crippling. I live in Atlanta, GA. A city known for black people doing extremely well economically. And in this same city you can go to certain parts of Atlanta where black people are still on the very bottom of every socio-economic indicator.

Even though some of us feel less oppressed than than other black folks, we're all viewed the same (which is why they're image of us will always be fukked up).

Be forced to earn certs in 2014 and ask if blacks are oppressed brehs.

Some black people face less oppression than others. But even with all my certs, if I ever get pointed out in a rape line up of a white girl, we both know I'm going to prison for life regardless of how much proof there is that I didn't do it.
