A planet named Proxima b has been discovered orbiting the closest star to our sun. It may be the closest possible home for life outside of the solar system.

Are people really pushing this as a big deal? I thought we have always theorized of the planets in that system that could be habitable. I guess this counts as an official discovery. Isn't that star part of a binary system? Might be confusing it with another star system.

edit: Also, habitable and earthlike doesn't mean it will be like what we have on earth, I can't imagine anything surviving on a planet with a star like that.
