I was but I knew he was just bluffin. Some people are expecting some 24 ish or something, I don't know.

True Blood is the highest rated show on HBO though GOT is probably doing better right now.

This show is more substance than sensation. If their favorite actor is Jason Statham then they might wanna find another show to watch

I love the attention to characterization. It's well fleshed out. Even the secondary and tritary characters are given distictive personalities and roles. And I also love the interconnecting storylines. Its so easy to get immersed in the GoT world

I'm not saying they need to wild out and turn into "24" but this is the kind of shyt that worries me, long term. I don't see it getting cancelled any time soon but 2-3 years from now if it gets cancelled there's no way in hell they'd wrap anything up at the pace they're telling the story. Imagine if, at the start of season 2, they found out season 3 was the last one. They'd be fukked.

The only other show with similar pacing is "Mad Men" but that show doesn't have an ambitious overarching story like "GoT".

LF is secretly gunning for power while Tyrion is just trying to be the new Ned Starke without losing his head.They not after the same things so of course their scheming levels gonna be different.

Tyrion also doesn't really have much motivation to hustle. He's good at scheming but he does it for the thrill of it mostly. Littlefinger started from the bottom now he here with years of planning he was able to transform himself from low born to the Lord of Harrenhal and now he's bout to become Lord of the Vale

Yeah I feel ya. I myself enjoy the pacing of the show, seeing as how its intended on lasting for a while. I like the fact that they take their time to develop characters and at the same time make things unpredictable, unlike most shows where you can ultimately predict who lives/dies and what's gonna happen by the end of the season.

We just happen to live in an age with a majority of casual viewers that may also have ADD and want things poppin off every episode. First of all, they need to realize budget constraints (especially when everyone is DLing, streaming, HBOGOing Lol). And then the fact that it's such a large, over arcing story you're not gonna have a true beginning and ending for every season, like True Blood for example.

But regardless though, if they can manage to do this show right and go 8 or so seasons, it should go down as the GOAT

this is what I mean. Before the war dude was happy making it rain in whorehouses. Dude had no ambition.

Now hes just trying to stay alive and keep his wife alive too. I feel like hes going to have to get in the game deeper to make those two things happen.

HBO will over look ratings as long as the awards and critical praise come in. They have no advertisers to answer to. And GoT's selling enough DVD's and Blu-Rays to make up for any subscribers that HBO is likely to lose due to GoT being on for too long....which is probably 0.

The Wire lasted 5 seasons with shyt ratings and great critical praise. The Sopranos got it's run until David Chase said he had enough. 6 Feet Under even got 1 more season than it should have. Curb You Enthusiasm has only OK ratings and Larry David is still allowed to come back whenever he wants...though production costs are low.

We will see all 7 books represented. Especially with the crazy ratings and critical praise it's getting. AND the buzz off the internet. Confident about that.
