I live in Toronto, and work in the heart of the downtown core. Like right across the street from tbe CN Tower and Skydome. My apartment is in East York, middle of the city. I get to see it all. And one thing I've noticed over the last decade is the average age of homeless people keeps going up. Used to be young people. Now they are 50's to 60's ish. Almost my parents age. Almost all the homeless people I see are in an age where they should be getting ready for retirement. Anyone else notice the same in their city or in Toronto?

Alot of young homeless in toronto as well just that they are mostly the demographic to use shelters, older people hate shelters.

bad shyt happens in the shelters. lotta gay homeless people too. men can and do get raped in shelters. not to mention bedbugs, god knows what kind of diseases, people stealing shyt from you, people stumbling around or being violent all fukked up on drugs. some shelters are better than others but generally when large amounts of humans share a space for free shyt gets to be disgusting and unclean. i slept outside when i was homeless, but i also wasnt in cold ass canada
agree. there are good folks on the street but a lot are just crazy or drug using pieces of shyt that society rightfully rejects. we used to call em criddlers. the kind of person who steals from other homeless people, and does crazy shyt in front of regular housed people to make us look bad. fukk those people
