how much money do you think it takes to have a legit chance at being a major political figure in the run for presidential election and be broadcasted on national television if properly educated
and is it possible to have a better chance with less education and more money backing you vs less money and more education?

The answer to that question is remarkably complicated. It depends in large part on how much a candidate is able to raise. And it can vary wildly, from the candidate who operates on a shoestring budget to the gold-plated, multistate operations of the most serious contenders.
As the 2012 campaign gets under way, there have been a lot of numbers thrown around. Some analysts believe that President Obama, who raised and spent about $750 million in the 2008 campaign, will come close to $1 billion this time around — a figure that senior White House officials dispute.
(One argument those officials make is that Mr. Obama’s record-breaking fund-raising took place during a historically long and bruising primary campaign against Hillary Rodham Clinton that stretched practically to the Democratic convention. No one predicts that kind of competition — if any — for Mr. Obama in a primary next year.)
There’s no way to know, in advance, how the spending will turn out this time. But experts say they are bracing for a record year that includes extensive fund-raising and spending by the candidates themselves and huge sums from so-called “outside” groups who can now raise an unlimited amount of money from corporations.
“Even with a bad economy, one thing that is not doing poorly is money flowing into presidential elections,” said Craig Holman, a government lobbyist for Public Citizen. “Sadly, we are going to see so much money spent in this presidential election it’s going to be mind-boggling.”
Mitt Romney, the former governor of Massachusetts, appears to now believe that winning the 2012 Republican nomination will require him to raise $50 million. News reports originally suggested that he wanted to raise that in the first three months after he announces his campaign for president. But senior aides now say that is a total amount for the primary.
