If you were an unknown rapper and had a chance to sign to a major, would you do it?

Let's say a label expressed interest in signing you based on your talent, but you don't have a core fanbase yet. Would you do it?

Its really a toss up, we've seen it work both ways very well and seen it fail as well.

But ya Id personally tell someone to take the deal.... with the way the internet is there are a million other artists. Use the Labels marketing connections to get a leg up.

Every rapper is signed to a major. The majors control all outlets, you're not getting heavy radio play or exposure without a major. Nobody sells physical cds anymore so of course you will be on a 360. Just because you're on a 360 doesn't mean you can't make a lot of money.

But it's a clear cut example of a label seeing something popping, so they jump on it without fully understanding what it is.

It's not like she was a talented artist who had a buzz built off mixtapes.

She had one song that went viral.

Labels didn't fully understand viral hits and Internet artist so they jumped on the oppurtunity to sign her thinking she was gunna have longevity.

Just like Trinidad James.

Nah... I wouldn't sign to a major because you can probably make more money indie... Like I would just upload videos and eat off youtube... I'd upload my whole CD to youtube and get paid per click... Every interview I do, I would want equal rights to upload on my own page..
