Why were the two of them saying, for instance, that the Lakers will only have 23 mil and AD will NOT be waiving his trade kicker, like a week ago?

They got on TV with the whole salary cap segment and the touchscreen saying how the Lakers are gonna be limited and did several segments on it.

Were they lying to create a narrative, or...not quite plugged in?
