Breh they played the long game and won. They got the U.S. to play their bodyguard for 70 years, allowing their country to dedicate huge resources towards rebuilding a nation that was totally decimated into a global economic powerhouse.

Sometimes you gotta pay your dues. That’s what sacrifice is all about. They took a huge risk, gambled and unfortunately for them, it was a disaster. They had very little choice in the beginning, but eventually the government has always retained the authority to withdraw from the policy.

I believe within a decade or so they will be a traditional military power once again.
