I Just graduated from community college in December with an associates degree in General Concentration. I dont know what I should do now. I'm turning 25 later this month and I make $9.30 an hour and been at the same job for 6 years now.:snoop: Its not cutting it. I hate being broke and I live with my mom. I got to get my life together. I just don't what career I should get into. I don't know if I should go to a 4 year school. I just don't know what to major in. Any advice brehs? I like cars and I used to draw and people said I was good at it when I was younger. I wish I was just good at something that I could make money from or win the lottery.

Pay down your debt from your associates if you have any. You were supposed to be figuring out what you wanted to "do" and get your bachelors in the last 15 years...

How many jobs do you have?

if you like drawing and cars, i would suggest mechanical engineering

also i think the most underrated majors for just cash are the ones in mining and petroleum, i would look into a 4 year in mining or petroluem engineering, you will never be out of a job http://careers.mines.edu/Stu_ChooseMajor.html

then there is the military

and of course there are certs

but mos def get a 4 year, that will allow you to apply for random government jobs that pay well if your major doesnt pan out

how's your math?
I suck in math. I couldn't pass the college algebra classes so they had the class called contemporary math and I passed 2 of those and they counted toward my degree and they were much easier.

You really should have tried to learn...

You still can...

Maybe you could get into engineering or architecture if you like "drawing cars"...

It sounds like you need to figure out what you enjoy.

The other thing you need to figure out is what you are good at.

General concentration tho? For really real? :dead:

You really should've stopped to pick an actual major after a semester or two.

If you're in community college you gotta choose an actual major breh. I'd talk to a counselor at the college about getting some other degree and seeing if most of your credits can be applied toward it. Because I mean general concentration is like the most vague degree I can imagine. To make money off a 2-year-degree, you generally have to choose something specific like nursing, dental assistant, IT, medical coding, etc.

So I'd say go back, talk to a counselor, figure out what you want to do, and pick a better major. If you transfer to a university and still don't pick an actual major and end up with a Bachelors Degree in General Studies or something  .

Ok...i'll be honest with you and tell you your GPA right now is going to make your journey a bit more difficult. It's not the end of the world, but you will have to work a little harder to end up in the same place as someone with a 3.0+. Depending on the amount of credits you have right now, it might be impossible to raise it to 3.0...but whatever you do, if you are able to get into a university in your state....you have to attempt to average at 3.5 every semester until you graduate. Not necessarily to boost your overall GPA....but to show employers, graduate/professional schools (should you carry it that far) that you were immature and grew up and was able to handle the coursework at a university. You said you were bad at math...so that really rules out a lot of STEM courses....i failed Calc 1 and 2 the first time i took them....but i passed the second try both times. So if you want something and are determined, you will find a way. You have no idea at all what kind of career you see yourself in? At 25 breh you gotta really do some soul searching and come up with something that you see yourself doing 10 years from now.

EDIT: I guess i should mention it wasn't really i was bad at math...but i was more concerned with playing ball and chasing women...point still stands. There were dumber people than me that passed because they had the work ethic and study discipline.
