Does anyone feel that these are two of the most underrated verses of his whole career?
I mean when people generally think of this song they'll go right to Rick Ross's verse and that's understandable because it's pretty amazing and Kanye's isn't as bombastic or as much of a typical rap verse but that's what makes it even better imo.
His flow is original, his tone/enunciation is original, the way he's telling the story across the two verses is incredibly original, probably two of the best story telling verses I've ever heard and if you take it as a apart of the interpretation that it's apart of the continuum of relationship story he's telling throughout the album filling in the blanks from All Of The Lights
And the random adlibs (or whatever those are) that he sprinkles throughout the song are gold.
"I love it though
I love it though"
"(Satan, Satan, Satan)"
"haven’t said a word, haven’t said a word
to me this evening
Cat got your tongue?"
And then there's his singing and general voice changes.
Not just that but the song is legitimately hilarious and atmospheric.
Plus it really gets across how generally dysfunctional this "relationship" is and Kanye has this half sneer on that really emphasizes how disgusted he is with this date/women and how fake both of them are (that golden classism joke with the name of the clothing brand referencing back to Versace on All Falls Down
and the jerk joke)
In general I think his verses on MBDTF are underrated especially when people are putting Nicki's over them all.
Yeezy a genius
What are your thoughts on this and other Kanye verses/songs/beats/aspects of him you think are genius/underrated/unappreciated?
