If they are so tired of him why did they give him 48 million then. It's not like Kobe was underpaid during his prime so they werent making up for lost wages or anything. They decided to offer him that and of course he accepted it and didnt think about the bigger picture and what they could have did with the money if he maybe would have signed a 2 year 30 million dollar contract instead.

In ESPN Magazine, Abbott cites multiple Laker sources claiming that the Buss family are finally done with Kobe and are waiting for him to retire. Claims his ego has rotted the Lakers brand and nobody wants to play with him (also cites multiple agents). Kobe is basically hurting the Lakers ability to rebuild.
