Like sometimes he'll rap where he doesn't pause after the word that the last word intentionally is suppose to rhyme with. Its like a run-on sentence or something. For example on Thugs Mansion:

He goes

I'm capable of anything/
My imagination can give me wings/
to fly like doves, over the streets...watching many things/
Kids walking home from school on drug blocks, missionaries/
pass out papers that read "Love God"

Now if you listen to the actual song he doesn't put a space between "drug blocks" and "missionaries". To the untrained ear, you're like, what the hell did "love god" rhyme wit??

It actually sounds like "love god" doesn't rhyme with anything if you don't catch the "drug blocks" syllables.

Another example is his verse on the Lil Wayne outro joint:

Look who
crept in/
Wit automatic
weapons/
Reppin/
QB, to the
death of him that/
n1kka that
inspired/
lyrical
tyrants/
like Kanye
West & Em

Again, if you listen to the actual song, there's no space between "death of him" & "that", making it seem to the untrained ear that "west & em" sounds out of place and don't rhyme with anything.

He does this pretty often I've noticed. He's had me rewinding hella verses because I didn't initially catch what the last word of the bar was supposed to rhyme with

The Carter 4 Outro one he puts just enough of a pause where you can tell what he's rhyming but the Thugz Mansion verse you have a point.

He does this type of rhyme pattern/flow more from Gods Son-Hip Hop Is Dead. He didn't really do it earlier in his career

Here's one that really had me like

QFmbZxG.jpg

when I first heard it

Take the weight of the world on my shoulders...I hold it/
So I consume most the pain for my nikkaz I roll wit/
Cuz see the streets ain't no Gold's Gym/
papi, and if I feel it going down then my nikkaz'll spot me

On this one he says "golds gym" at the end of the bar, making the listener anticipate the ending of the next bar to end with the "gym" sound. But instead he puts "papi" at the beginning of the bar and rhymes it with "spot me". Had me confused first few times I listened and had to go back and rewind to make sense of it

Nas is just the GOAT, his writing is on such a level that he just tries out different rhyme patterns and all kinds of shyt and it ALWAYS comes out ill.

Meanwhile mainstream rap fans think Eminem is the king of rhyme schemes. :scusthov:

Lets just focus on Nas...lets not shyt on one rapper to big up the other.

because real talk...put Em and Nas in a URL battle tommorow.....i got my money on Em

*not trying to go off topic, i'm just saying* :yeshrug:

Slant rhyming.
What about when rappers literally "split" words in 2. Andre 300 and Eminem does this alot.

Matter fact Stacks did it on that Outro joint:

Pulled her ponytail to my body/
She's the only gal that was smart e/
nough to call me Mr. Benjamin, in the middle of a wild party

He split the word "enough" at the end of the bar and carried it over to the beginning of the next bar. I love when rappers do that:banderas:

Ima make a thread on that too soon
