I've listen to a couple of his albums and I've seen just about every stand up and movie the brother ever did but none of them with the exception of couple of chuckles here and there never really made me laugh. I appreciate his sincere honesty and the ability to really speak on himself as a person and social commentary but I just don't think dude was really all that funny. And yes, I know every comedian and his mama look up to the brother.

I think Paul Mooney is funnier than Richard ever was and Paul says and thinks Richard is the King of comedy. But in my opinion, Richard has never been funny like this:

But to me, Redd Foxx was the greatest comedian of all time:

Love
Chappelle deserves to be in the discussion of his natural ability alone, his material is profound and he is prolific at his craft

if you listen to his albums that is where he is at his most hillarious and revolutionary. by the time he did stand up films, apart from the first one, he had fallen off a little. they are still dope, Live on The Sunset Strip is important but it aint laugh ya azz off funny, more like a sermon about the human condition from a man who been to hell and back. so i think people make me laugh more, like Robin Harris, Chris Rock, but Pryor is the deepest. Paul Mooney is the gangsterest though. he gives no fux ever.

you do know Paul Mooney use to write for him?

so if he not funny how is he :childplease:

Yes, I know that but the talent doesn't stop there. A comedian has to have that "it" factor that makes them special as well. Now it's evident he did have something because so many consider him the best but to me he wasn't really all that funny, I just don't really see it.

These are the albums and movies of his I've seen and or owned:

That N*gger's Crazy
Is It Something I Said
Bicentennial N*gger
Evolution/Revolution: The Early Years (1966-1974)

Blue Collar (the best movie outside of Which Way Is Up? he's ever been in, this is a classic IMO)
Stir Crazy
Jojo Dancer (this was really good)
Brewster's Millions (it was an ok movie)
Bustin Loose
Car Wash (he was funny in this)
Superman 3
Live And Smokin'
Live In Concert (the stand up taped in Long Beach, Ca)
Live On The Sunset Strip
Here and Now
Which Way Is Up? (now this is funny)

You are one of the few...the man was funny:ufdup:

I didn't say he wasn't funny at all, I just asked "am I the only one who thinks Richard Pryor wasn't all THAT funny?" :shaq2:

I'm not fronting when I say, there's never been a time for me where he told a joke or did something that was suppose to be funny and found it to be all that hilarious. With Richard Pryor's jokes or movies, usually I might chuckle or even get a half a$$ed laugh but never like "Oh my God, this is n*gga is hilarious!" :pachaha: type of laugh.
