I mean...being serious here. Dude gets no shout outs. Never at any shows.

Why isn't dude acting like he has fans or something (whatever those are...:wtb: :beli:)

Granted i'm not a big fan of dude, but does Jay-Z ever get impressed by this guy sans his one "lights please" song?

If it wasn't for commercial success (tricking his "fans" if you ask me), I wonder where Cole would be now. Mickey Factz status?

Think jay's said to hell with even keeping up the pretense of the whole "i'm not just your label head, i'm your friend...your big homie..we're family" thing...so that when the time comes for Cole to get that Tierra Marie/Beans/Freeway "you're dropped from the label" letter from some random lawyer and they call Jigga and can't get him to pick up, he can't say he switched it up on him...he's just a suit now, like nobody expects artists to have personal relationships with the random old white men that run most labels

Who cares if he like him "like that"

This is a business and Jay-Z is treating it as such. I don't seem him hanging tough with any ROC Nation artists

I'm sure he learned from his Roc A fella days that being all buddy buddy with your artist probably isn't the best move.

Also, when J. Cole has success (like he already has) they can't say its because Jay-Z was propping him up.

Jay works with what he sees. Its back-scratching at its finest

He gave Cole immediate help by publicly endorsing him and then bringing him on tour, cause he saw potential

If Cole starts getting traction, then Jay will jump in and 1) help a rising brand/investment 2) increase his own brand and relevancy at the same time

If it works, its a notch on Jay's belt. If it fails, it wasnt Jay's problem and he was being "generous". Its a dirty biz, but you can see how one hand washes the other...Jay keeps a safe but convenient distance from the Coles, Drakes, Meeks, Big Seans etc
