Bangladeshi Gang Rape
November 21, 2014 | 4:48 pm
A recent UN report revealed that one in eight men in rural Bangladesh admit to having committed rape. Although it is a crime punishable by death, there are no accurate government figures for rape in Bangladesh, largely due to social stigma and a failure by local authorities to investigate alleged crimes.

VICE News correspondent Tania Rashid traveled to Sylhet and met with both perpetrators and victims of rape as well as local police to find out what is driving Bangladeshi men to rape and abuse women, and what steps the authorities are taking to put an end to it.

The men out there dgaf, on some straight "if a woman is uncovered in anyway she was asking for it." It's pretty wild out there with the victim blaming. The reporter is a good friend of mine and she'll have a story for VICE coming out soon about how they give young girls in brothels a cow fattening pill to make them appear older:huhldup:

This topic naturally evokes high tempered emotion but I am not a fan of how this was reported...

I was too distracted by the young lady injecting her opinion into the piece.... just the facts ma'am.... Just lay the facts down and we will pick up the exact same sentiment that you expressed...

This story makes me thankful of my multitude of blessings...

The yelling interview of the police chief, the "I told you there was a white man with me, he won't know anything (I understand why she said it to the lady, but why include it in the edited version), the attitude given to all her tour guides "you know these people why don't you do something," [instead of "if people; including yourself, know these rapist, why haven't they been turned in?], "you want me to stand here, where do you want me to stand! Why are they staring, why aren't they praying!"

It seemed like it was just a show about her trip to Bangladesh.... Like I originally said, it was distracting from the main point.

Behind You
Considering the accepted thought process of those in power is that men cannot be expected to control themselves I really don't see how any progress can be made to curtail the rape epidemic.
The police and the Imam basically have taken to rationalizing that only women who disgrace themselves and are looking to be sexual get raped. Because those poor raping men can't possibly control themselves when faced with the alluringly suggestive image of a woman with her hair partially uncovered.
