***This is an EXTREMELY! important poll, so please vote and think carefully.. And also read the thread in full before voting***

Year after year, we see thread after thread asking, "Who's your GOAT".. .... "2pac or Nas?"... "KRS vs Jay-Z"

Etc etc... With the last one listed, being the most preposterous....

Deciding who was better between KRS and Jay is like deciding what's better: An Apple or a slice of Pizza....

Are we judging based off taste? Or nutrition?
Cost?
Convenience? (Grab an apple vs cooking or ordering a pizza)
How full will it get you / keep you from getting hungry?

etc etc etc...

It's like comparing night and day, it makes no damn sense...

SO WITH THAT SAID: I am creating this thread, so we can understand once and FOR ALL, What is the MAIN FACTOR, YOU PERSONALLY USE, When deciding who is GOAT.... (and if you can give a *detailed* explanation in the thread as to WHY you feel that way, that would be great)

Of course most of us have MANY deciding factors.... But that don't mean shyt here.... THIS THREAD, is about picking the #1 factor you use... So with that said... Here are the options... You can only pick one.. So think carefully about your choice (I could only list 10 so I picked the most important 10):

-Lyrical Content / Complexity (Includes wittyness, entendres, story telling ability, Subject Matter etc etc... The awesomeness of the Lyrics if you simply read it on Paper and didn't hear them spit it)

-Flow / Delivery / Presentation (flow ability / diversity, inflection, emotion, ad libs, voice, cadence, charisma etc etc)

-Album Sales (Total Units sold, Units sold PER ALBUM.. Biggie averages 7x plat per album, Jay-Z has more total sales but only averages 2x plat or so per album.. So factor that in your choice)

-Classic Albums (The albums most people recognize as hip hop classics... Even if it sold 1,000 copies and wasn't GROUNDBREAKING...)

-*GROUNDBREAKING* Classic Albums (Top 10 Universally Recognized Classics: illmatic, Ready to Die, Chronic etc etc)

-Consistency / Career longevity / Ability to Stay relevant (Lonngggg careers: ability to stay relevant / important to various generations over time)

-Overall Impact on the Hip Hop Genre / Culture and Pushing it into Pop Culture / Main Stream (White, Black, Suburbs, Hood, don't matter.. Ability to set trends.. Grand Ma even know they name)

-Being a Forefather (Someone there from the beginning who's influence lasts the test of time and will always be respected and revered: Rakim, KRS One, Big Daddy Kane etc)

-Most Years of Domination / Being the "Hottest Rapper in the Game" (Most years where they were the UNDISPUTED hottest rapper: 50 Cent in 2003... Eminem in 2002... Lil Wayne in 2008... Etc)

-Entire Catalog (The quality of their ENTIRE catalog as a whole... not factoring in album sales / popularity... and EVEN IF they don't have ONE classic album.. Includes all their Albums, Mixtapes, Classic Songs, Freestyles, Features, Verses, Remixes etc)

Be sure to reference the additional notes / details in parenthesis for clarity on each category before making your final choice.

I went with entire catalog...that kinda includes flow and lyrical ability

I try to look at everything without really giving more weight to one attribute then i do to another. So this was tough for me to answer

Some people like to ignore longevity and album sales, probably Jay-Z haters. I'm not the biggest fan of Jay as a person but in my opinion longevity and album sales should count for something but u dont want them to handicap less mainstream rappers.

for me its "how often i listen to and listed to their music in my life"

its an arbitrary factor but its the most telling IMO
This...

That choice wasnt listed so i picked entire catalogue.

Lets be reality: i listen to certain artists EVERYDAY 9/10... lets use Curren$y for example. but people would call me crazy if i had them listed higher on my list than one of these nikkas who gets no play from me a la Nas/Rakim/KRS One

yeah, i remember I had a thread "list the top ten most played songs on iTunes / phone / music device" and it REALLY SHOWED who you listen to.

Prodigy was on there more than anyone for me, and realistically, I have to say he is MY GOAT. I don't like seperating 'goat' and 'favorite'. I'm a consumer...my favorite is the GOAT to me.

Entire catalog is my number 1. Anybody can drop 1 good album, consistency lies in being able to drop a quality product multiple times.

Only speaking for myself of course, but I'm not putting somebody who has less than 4 albums in my top 5, u need AT LEAST that many to even be in the conversation imo.
