PS4 Sales Overtake 1,900,000 Units in Japan; Xbox One “Greatest Hits” Don’t Make the Top 50
The latest media create charts, combined with historical data reveal that the PS4 has reached a new sales milestone in Japan, overtaking 1,900,000 units sold.
To be more precise, the latest rather solid week, that retained momentum three weeks after a price cut, brought Sony’s Console to a total of 1,900,291 units that found a warm and loving Japanese home.
This week also marked the debut of the Xbox One “Greatest Hits” games. Ryse: Son of Rome, Sunset Overdrive and Dead Rising 3 launched as part of the new line-up with a very convenient price that translates into $25 plus taxes.
Unfortunately the top 50 released today revealed that the discount did not push any of the three games back into the rankings. Re-releasing games with discounted editions is something quite common in Japan, and it often causes a resurgence of older games in the lower half of the charts, but unfortunately this time around it didn’t happen.
That said, they still managed to give a small nudge to Xbox One sales, that doubled since the week before, and were set at 438 units.
