You still waiting on DMX to give you that feeling he gave you sophomore year? Did Nelly really lose it with "Hey Porsche"?.. When is Wayne gonna get back to squad up era Wayne?

I think Krit said it best.. " The radio don't play the shyt I used to love. Or maybe I'm just growing up."

We gotta realize we cant get the past back... 90% of these rappers have the same skill-set they did 10-15 years ago , and many have actually gotten better.

Weezy and Cam never left , bruhs. Our brains have matured and we're just starting to realize that maybe these dudes were never even worth the hype.

maybe in some instances..i think that only applies to certain people....but cam used to be dope i can clearly hear the dude just got mad lazy with his flow.. and with his vocabulary .. its wack...if you are smart enough you can actually hear the difference... its just people dont have the patience anymore

Look at a cat like DMX , though. Dude still raps and dresses like he did 15 years ago. Same lyrical content.

Artists like Jay-Z matured with his fans... that's why he is still so relevant...

Jay latches on to anything hot. Kinda like Madonna. I guess that's how you gotta do it if you want to have longevity.

Love this thread. Been telling these negros for years. For the most part however . . . skills do diminish a bit (ie Wayne) but most overall the feeling that was created when those "CLASSICS" were created is long and gone. People miss the feeling more than the actual quality in music.

I always hear lines like " I remember leaving school and going to pick up GRODT..We played that album all summer.."

i disagree with the comment about 90% of the rappers have the same skill set to

because no they dont..
they lack that hunger they used to have... no motivation... thats why you see a shyt load of old rappers always come .. go... come back again years later when that money runs dry.. there motivation is money ... not the love for the artform... and you can tell the rappers who still have love for the art.. and the ones who just want money

Jay adapts with the times while still staying true to himself..

not easy to do.. he doesnt latch on to anything hot because he fukks with the same people he has been fukking with for years.. he is the thing thats hot

I beg to differ.. When Wayne was clearly about to supplant Jay as the "best rapper alive".. Jay got on a track with his "heir". BP3 is one of the most egregious examples of Jay latching onto up and coming artists... That album featured Drake Cudi and Cole (the future at the time). Frank Ocean has been all over Jays last 2 projects.
