Thats the way the label has always treated him. now that he's an official "old head" rapper. of course they wont push him. even though he's still very entertaining and still GOT IT. doesnt matter. they cant let a dude of his talent level blow up. if they do. it will destroy all the youngins rapping today. the listener would then request more top level mcees. that makes everyone work harder. meaning labels and A/R's would now have to really do the work to go out and find TOP TIER talent. its very difficult to pul l that off. thats why you hear so many people that are C to B- level rappers but pushed like stars. because its more of those average dudes out there. its easier to find them and market them up. vs finding the next red, pac, biggie, jay, etc.
