The only thing I take away from this is that nerds and stans will be saying "well u should get a slim version, I never had a problem with my slim version that was released less than 5 months ago which isn't a long enough period for me to really verify it's alleged longevity but I'll continue to say it anyway because I'm a hipster douche" whenever launch PS4s start bricking or going bad now

if sony was smart, they'd release a cheaper slim PS4 without a blu ray drive and a bigger hard drive to forcee folks to buy all their games thru the PS store.
OEM bluray drives for them aren't really expensive though. Maybe 40 bucks to Sony in bulk. Maybe 30 for a 500GB 2.5 inch hard drive
