The difference between a "fanatic" and someone who just listens to music

- A fanatic goes on messageboards, soundcloud, an artists Twitter account and other forms of social media to keep up with exclusives and whats new

- Someone who just listens to music jumps on the wagon of what everyone else is bumping or whatever's popular.





- A fanatic can give you details on 2pacs discography, who produced on what song, what studio it was recorded in, how the song almost didnt get made, who the song is about.

- Someone who just listens to music knows some 2Pac songs but couldnt tell you what year they came out.






- A fanatic will argue online about an artist they like and go as far as hurling insults and making threats in defense of that artist

- Someone who just listens to music has other things to do and arguing with faceless strangers about music isn't one of those things






- A fanatic Knows an artists tour dates and will go to an artists' concert 1 or more times and will even do the backstage pass/ VIP thing

- Someone who just listens to music might go to an artists concert out of peer pressure







- A fanatic will try to communicate with an artist thru twitter and leave numerous comments

- Someone who just listens to music will check an artists' Twitter once in a while and may even "like" a comment or picture but they could go months not checking that artists' Twitter page even if its someone they like.







- A fanatic will defend an artist till the death wether they are wack, gay acting, fall of status, attention whoring, a crack smoker , constantly doing dumb things, ect.

-Someone who just listens to music will speak on a rumor they heard about an artist but will not go into details nor give two fukks about wether the details are true or not

-A fanatic will look in an album sleeve/booklet and read the linear notes to see who did the production, mixing, mastering ect.

- Someone who just listens to music will look at an album sleeve/booklet for the pictures






- A fanatic will lie and say they hung out with an artist or theat they are in the studio with a certain artis or that they are related to a certain artist or that they used to hang out back in the day even the the fanatic and the artist have never met or exchanged words

- Someone who just listens to music will be talking to a friend and say "Hey you know I saw (insert artists name) just walking down the street yesterday. He looks a lot shorter in real life." They might even go as far as saying they they waved to the artis and said "hello" but after that the person will move on to talk about something else







- A fanatic knew who Stack Bundles was before he died

- Someone who just listens to music didnt hear of Stack Bundles till after he died.

You have to be passionate thats the only way to truly appreciate hip hop....I can talk with you, but I can't take you seriously about rap, if you don't know the game. If you don't know the history, of at least your favorites. My cousins boyfriend is def. a casual fan...I met him last weekend, and we talked rap, but dude was way out of his league. Talking about Cassidy and shyt. 'BARS' is a classic....and I was like man I was listening to Cass in 2001, I remember when he premiered on that RR joint.....stop it

That hulk hogan analogy makes zero sense. Of course I'm a fanatic, everyone who has a lengthy rep on a hip hop message board is a fanatic. Now on the other hand , if you are on a message board socializing outside of the music and u r not networking u May fall in the category of lacking a social life.
