Are there massive waves in the video game?

From my memory not for Ellie but later on for Abby there definitely were.

EDIT: I might have this backwards. Either way I do remember there being a massive storm that one of the characters had to fight through the waters for.

Ellie in the games is a fukking demon who somewhat enjoys killing. They really nerfed her in this.

Nah she didn't enjoy it.. In fact the game kinda showed that she was trying to be like Joel and not have it affect her but it did..

I thought the show wasn't going to show how the Nora scene affected her but they did. They just kinda waited, maybe treating her like she could hide it at first..

In the game immediately after she kills Nora Ellie is traumatized.

I also don't really like that she revealed to Dina why this all started. It's like she was ok with giving up because it was Joel's fault this whole cycle started. But then she gets determined to go after Abby once she figures out where she is.

They're really starting to piss me off, the damn game was perfect

Stop playing dumb. The complaints were if they were going to have her physically manhandling trained soldiers. No one is complaining if she sneaks up on and kills people with weapons.

The show is acclaimed for it's acting, production design, cinematography and for the most part it's stayed true to all major plot points. But because a little more plot armor and action for Ellie isn't on the menu, you expect everyone to shyt on it.... who is playing dumb

Don't move the goalposts. You're like usual being a contrarian dikkhead like you don't understand the difference between people complaining about Ellie being able to beat up grown men and equating that to why it's smart not to show Ellie killing people as if the same complaints would happen if she was shooting people. And how would having her kill people using weapons be plot armor? You just misusing words to try and sound smarter than you are.

yeah, i figured that was a video game ass hurdle, but, those would be literally the craziest waves in the history of elliot bay and the pier. 100s of ships from motor boats to Giant cruise ships pass thru that monthly.

No, you as the player get them out of those situations because it's a video game. Then a cutscene plays to further the story. It's not usual plot armor I care about. I'm speaking on in the show where the plot is just moving by her escaping instead of fighting her way through things a bit. There's a completely different relationship that people have with Ellie based on this.

I understand she can't be female John Wick but then you have to figure out how to make it work and they really haven't.

It's a completely different journey from the game but doesn't mix with how the story portrays the cycle of violence and vengeance.

The first season worked because it's mostly on how humanity/family can survive in the worst situations.

It's just not written well enough this season and hopefully they figure it out next season.

Exactly and therein lies the issue. YOU are getting them out of ridiculous situations to advance the story. In a TV show, you are not in control... they have to follow a narrative structure that would make sense from point A to point B without throwing on endless amounts of plot armor.

Is that right? Because she's caught bodies and survived several attacks in Seattle already including a million zombies surrounding them at the public transit station. Sounds like you want additional plot armor. I don't think that would work.

I have a question for yall; do you think that the show suffers from the inability (or choice not to) show Ellie' skills progress over time, by you as the player improving and getting abilities, vs the show having most of Ellie's kills being borderline luck or happenstance, or her acting shocked after them? That perhaps if the show showed more of Ellie killing and getting better at defense and stealth she'd be more convincing?

Or is that not an important element to your argument?

I just watched a 30 min spoiler breakdown and
1. I can see why ppl love the story but
2. This should be maybe a trilogy of movies but no way should it be a 4 season series.

I wouldn't say there was progression of skills on Ellie's part in the game. It's a video game so of course she was Killa Carol of Walking Dead fame from the beginning of Part 2. You can get away with this in a game to a certain extent. She couldn't handle grown men hand to hand like Joel could, she was just good with weapons..

The show has a more realistic approach to the universe. Every run in with even just one of the infected is life or death. She can't take out 19 soldiers at a time.

I'd say showing Ellie kill more infected, soldiers, or Scars would be more mindless action that wouldn't serve the narrative of the show any further. It might be cool to see though

For me, it feels like she hasn't learned shyt from all those years of training with joel/tommy/maturity. No strategy, no sense of surrounding, just a dumb teenager. No one needs her to be Schwarzenegger in commando killing an entire platoon but she can utilize stealth to take a few soldiers out and show us she is competent in going to Seattle and enacting her goals.

Dina seems to be the one with the proper head on her shoulders and better equipped. I just never believe anything she's doing like I do with Jessie/tommy. It doesn't help that they constantly tell her what a fukk up she is and you sit there and say "you know what? They're right!"

No, I know what "plot armor" is and apparently it has to be explained to you. At it's core, it's a main character surviving dangerous situations, almost impossible situations to advance the story. If she's out here shooting 200 soldiers like she does in the game, that's plot armor. That's shyt that absolutely would be criticized just like every other time she's killed someone in the show. Nobody is misusing words. Don't get mad. Explain what your issue is.
