Let me start an appreciation thread on the funniest fukken movie that I can watch over and over again.

How did this movie even get made? How did all those major stars come together for this?

Literally everyone played their part perfectly.

amazing movie, with some amazing performances, with an amazing concept, and i cannot believe it's not hailed as an absolute classic. some people don't even like it, which is fukkin mind boggling.

It's a good comedy but it struggles under Stiller's presence, as both actor and director. His part in the movie really needed an actual action star to play it as straight because Stiller's typical 'look at me pulling goofy faces' comedy didn't work for that part. That's also what hurts the direction because there are many parts that feel like they would play far better if delivered completely dry-pan and not so deliberately 'trying to be funny'.

His part was the weakest and maybe casting tom in his part wouldve worked better because he is an action star but then we wouldnt have Les. RDJ killed it

Alpa Chino's preview at the beginning always cracks me up. Robert Downey Jr was foolin. I'm glad they didn't chicken out from having his character act black.

Yeah I agree. I got wha they were going for and who he's supposed to be but he would be the weak link and he's not even bad

RDJs role was fukkin brilliant when you actually think about it. Rather than just white washing a black role, just get a white guy to surgically alter himself to look black.

Brandon T. Jackson made the perfect foil to him.

IT was perfect just from the onset of poking fun at hollywood and actors who really go full method. I think that's why the blackface isn't a big deal in that movie (at least for me) because it's clearly a joke that's pointing out how stupid the business can be and how stupid the actors in the business can be. What's funny is he doesn't drop character until after the dvd commentary. He said it and it's true so you should listen to the commentary if you haven't

I loved that movie then, and still do now. McConaughey's obsession with making sure his client had his TiVo was low key one of the best parts of the movie. He even passed up a G5 for his boy.
