With a scale of 1-10 how would you rate CM Punk in these categories:

-Mic work/promos

-Personality/gimmicks

-Ring work (along with some of your favorite matches/feuds)

-Overall rating (which doesn't have to be an average of the above scores)

9, he's a 9 in ring (sloppy, but good psychology and has a great match library) and a 9 on the mic (really good at coming across as the arrogant, self-indulgent smart aleck with an axe to grind but his promos rarely differed from that archetype).

-Mic work/promos - 7
  • Came across as a whiney little hoe late in his career, but he does great heel mic work

-Personality/gimmicks - 9
  • Straight edge society is one of the GOAT mid 00s stables and they should've kept on going tbh. He got over on gimmick and personality his whole career.

-Ring work (along with some of your favorite matches/feuds) - 7
  • He can work but I believe his ring work was always overrated and is basically a not as good version of many other wrestlers. That said though, he tells a great story in the ring, and that made his matches great to watch.

-Overall rating (which doesn't have to be an average of the above scores - 7

By the end if his run I was tired of him and that says a lot about a wrestler. I'd give him an 8 if not though, I liked punk a lot when he was active and prime.

-Mic work/promos = 9
Easily one of the best mic workers of this generation and his Pipe Bomb promo is his magnum opus. I didn't give him a 10 because he relied too much on shoot promos later in his career and sometimes got corny with it (i.e. right now this isn't CM Punk talking to Triple H, this is Phil Brooks talking to Paul Levesque :beli:)
He fared pretty well against The Rock and John Cena with his promos. He always knew how to sell a feud and get fans emotionally invested.

-Personality/gimmicks = 9
His Straight Edge Society run was extremely entertaining but I felt that he could have done more with it. He could play a face or heel role effectively and his feud with Jeff Hardy was a great display of his Straight Edge personality. He was very versatile with his gimmicks.

-Ring work (along with some of your favorite matches/feuds) = 8

He was sloppy at times but overall he was very good in the ring. Fans went crazy for the GTS and his overall moveset was solid. He knew his limits and didn't try to do too much.

Feuds: Jeff Hardy, Cena, Daniel Bryan, Rey Mysterio, John Morrison

Matches:

Any of the Bryan matches

Any of the Rey Mysterio matches

-Overall rating (which doesn't have to be an average of the above scores) = 9
He was a legend of this era and played a major role in helping people like Daniel Bryan, Seth Rollins, and AJ Styles get main event pushes. The only negative from his career is that management never truly viewed him as a main eventer and during his long WWE Title reign John Cena was still getting the main event spotlight even without the title.

9 :yeshrug:

there are very few 10s (Austin, Rock, Hogan, Flair, Macho,)

More 9s (Eddie, Taker, Cena, Hitman, Andre)

And he fits in with the 9s...

A pioneer. great on the mic, easy to get behind, good worker...

The best wrestlers are people that you can see being themselves on camera and off camera and I definitely feel Punk fit that description

This is tough. On the mic i'll give his crazy ass a 10. Up there with Rock & Flair imo.

In Ring, he's about an 8. Always thought he was better until i saw guys like AJ.

No matter what though, he was definitely great for the business.

I thought it was the Royal Rumble?
It was both :pachaha:. The hooters I was at was furious his entire time in the ring both matches. Between a good in ring ability, great mic work, ability to play either side of the crowd, and an ability to make people care all while breaking down the door for more Indy guys, I would say 9 for him. Damn shame management went out of the way to sabotage him and drive away fans when he was at his hottest.
