Uncle Buck is one of the first movies I remember loving as a kid and sparked an eternal love for John Candy. They've already made a tv show of it once in the 90s (which I watched) and now of course they're going to the well again. What came out yesterday, is that it will be an all black cast:wow:

Now I firmly believe this is due to the success of Empire, Black Ish, How to Get Away with Murder and the continued success of Scandal so even if you're not a fan of those shows, as a black man or woman, it's time to be thankful for them because they're showing networks that we can move numbers just as much as our white counterparts, and in the case of Empire, crush those numbers.

ABC’s version of Uncle Buck is going to look a lot more Black-ish. EW has confirmed a Showbiz 411 report that the network’s sitcom reboot of the 1989 John Hughes film is seeking an all-black cast to play the family at the heart of the show.

The creative twist on the original format could be a reaction to this season’s unmissable broadcast trend where shows with diverse casts are having a seismic impact on the Nielsen ratings (like Fox’s Empire, ABC’s How to Get Away with Murder and ABC’s own Black-ish).

The original film starred John Candy as an irresponsible oaf who becomes the unlikely babysitter for his suburban brother’s kids. There was also a short-lived TV series on CBS in 1990. The new Buck Russell is described as “a wild and free-wheeling force of nature who has managed to lose every job and every girlfriend he’s ever had, but who still flies through life by the seat of his pants, never knowing what tomorrow will bring.”

So who should play the lead? One name that might work: Damon Wayans Jr. is leaving Fox’s New Girl (again) and, we hear, just passed on joining another TV show based on a film – CBS’ Rush Hour pilot. Uncle Buck is likewise still in the pilot stage so the project might not make it to air regardless of who is cast. Here is all of the current pilot news.

:ohhh: He passed on Rush Hour?

This was one of my favorite movies, and the basic story doesn't give much leeway for c00nery so we could have a fairly non stereotype laden series :blessed:

Yeah it's just a bugged out uncle who's trying his hardest to take care of the kids while at the same time, not take care of the kids

And guess who's playing Uncle Buck? Mike Epps

Mike Epps has been tapped for the title role in Uncle Buck,ABC‘s single-camera comedy pilot based on the classic John Hughes film starring John Candy. Also cast in the project, from Universal TV and Will Packer Prods., is Nia Long.

Like the movie, the series adaptation, written by Steven Cragg and Brian Bradley, centers on Buck Russell (Epps), a childish man who learns how to be an adult by taking care of his brother Will’s kids in a very childish way. Long will play Will’s strong-willed and smart wife.

The new Uncle Buck TV remake (there was a short-lived 1990s Uncle Buck CBS series starring Kevin Meaney) had been conceived with Buck as African American, giving the format a new twist. Packer is known for producing hit feature comedy franchises with Black leads, like Ride Along andThink Like A Man. On ABC, Uncle Buck would be a suitable companion for another single-camera African American family comedy, Black-ish.

Uncle Buck is so good. John Candy :mjcry:

Planes, Trains and Automobiles is a top 10 comedy of all time :mjcry:

I personally love Mike Epps so I'm interested to see how this will turn out, it can't ruin the originals legacy.

It's kinda impossible to ruin the first one's legacy seeing as how they already tried the tv show thing once in the 90s
