Yet Another Wrestling Myth Everybody Needs to Get Over in 2015–“HE’S NOT READY
It’s become an absolute joke to me whenever so-called “critics” who cover professional wrestling sling around this catch phrase when they don’t believe that a certain wrestler should be come a company’s Champion—“HE’S NOT READY.” I swear to you, just those three words make me chuckle every, single time that I hear them. Now, I can completely understand that statement when it comes from a fellow wrestler who is competing for the spot, and he uses that term to “politically” bury the guy that his company is pushing, but when some jabron who writes about fake wrestling says it—it’s absolutely hysterical.
The reason is simple—NOT READY FOR WHAT? Not ready to win a fake Championship belt? Is that what he’s not ready for? Now, where there may be some credence to a guy not being ready to join the main roster because he’s still a bit green around the gills, there is absolutely ZERO creed in him “not being ready” to grab the brass ring once he’s all ready there. It’s just an absolute ridiculous and asinine statement. I’m starting to hear that more and more when it comes to Roman Reigns, and it’s really becomes more and more pathetic each time it’s said. If you personally don’t want Roman Reigns to win the WWE Title because you rather it go to an Ambrose, a Bryan, or a Rollins—who are all “ready” I guess—then just say that. Because when you declare that Roman Reigns is “not ready”, you just sound ignorant.
Of course when you hear the argument over and over again, the only strike against Reigns that they ever talk about is that in their opinion, “Reigns can’t “talk”. Really? And, Bob Backlund could? Do any of these curtain jerkers understand that Bob Backlund held the WWF title longer then even HULK HOGAN? As a matter of fact, the only one who had a longer
WWE Title reign in history was
Bruno Sammartino. Yes, it’s different today, 1,000% different, HOWEVER—Backlund still had to sell tickets. And how did that usually work—-by the heel talking the people in the house when he declared so eloquently how he was going to dismember the Champ. That’s why you book Reigns against credible heels EARLY, as he continues to craft his promo chops.
Not ready—please. What made Daniel Bryan ready, and not Roman Reigns? Because Bryan was more the “wrestler type”, and Reigns is more the “sports-entertainer”? That’s really what you’re trying to say . . . isn’t it? If so—then say it. Say that you’re a mark for grappling and rolling around on the mat, and Roman Reigns only has five moves. Because, in all honesty—that’s what you’re saying, and that’s what I’m hearing. But the fact of the matter is—the casual fans who represent the masses, want to see a WWE Champion WHO LOOKS THE PART. Not a guy who can “work” a fake wrestling match. Nobody outside of the Internet Wrestling Community cares about that—NOBODY. And, if the WWE starts catering strictly to the IWC . . . then they’re in even more trouble then it appears.
Reigns IS READY. Maybe the hacks writing the columns saying he’s not . . . should analyze their own “credibility” when it comes to them being LEGITIMATE “critics”.
