Why are PSN users paying $50 a year for throttled internet speeds in mp?

Whatever your speed is, it gets cut in half when you're using PSN.

There's dudes on Neogaf that are paying for 100mpbs connections that get cut down to 50mbps on PSN

On PS3 it was tolerable because the service was free (I honestly wouldn't be complaining about PS4's throttled speeds if it was free also, u get what u pay for) but now there's really no excuse for it

My Xbox 360, released in 2005 has better internet speeds via Ethernet than my PS4, that's just ridiculous

I guess the real question should be why aren't more people complaining about this? The way they choke hold these speeds this sh1t should be free.

PSN is :flabbynsick: as fukk. Took me almost 3 hours to download the bloodborne day 1 patch.

But word to @Liquid @Fatboi1 and the rest of the sony Stan coalition, who cares about the cloud and investments into network infrastructure, that's all just marketing talk.

I think a lot of people have their PS4 on wifi and don't understand placement and interference, plus I don't think Sony has the best wifi card in their system.

Plug that ethernet in

I'm on ethernet bruh

PS4 doesn't even connect to wifi

Tried a few times in the past

:beli:

but these complaints are about download speeds. you can experience those crappy speeds for 'free'

multiplayer performance depends more on ping than download speed

Not when it comes to things like shareplay and playstation now

I'm straight wired connection
Damn son don't know what to tell you

PSN can be :flabbynsick: and used to get me heated downloading shyt on PS3. Haven't really had that issue on PS4 though. What speed you got on your plan? Maybe there was more traffic on the server than when I downloaded it but it was like 2 or 3 gigs and it happened in no time for me. :manny:

nah bruh, this is real. and its only been happening (to me) as of the last couple of months.

I thought COX was throttling my speed, cuz I noticed shyt on psn was taking longer than usual to download. I did the speed check on there, it was giving me 48 mbps.

I did the check on my computer and it was 127 mbps...

Both Ethernet connections. I didn't have these problems in 2014 with psn.

I get max 5MB/s (~40mb/s)and it fluctuates heavy at that.

Go to speedtest.net, then run the same test on PS4 that's a more accurate reflection.

If you're paying for 100MBPS that doesn't mean your ISP isn't throttling you too. You gotta check the speed through a separate source.

So I just did a test on speedtest.net and got 50.7 Mbps DL speed.

Did the same on PS4 got 30Mbps, so there is a difference :flabbynsick:

Never noticed it affect anything I've done on my PS4 though, but there you have it.
