Why do you have to go to attend college courses to be qualified for work in your field of interest?

A college should just be a big library. Degrees limit potential prospects.

I agree. There should just be standardized tests and the smartest people win. There's no real justification for making someone spend 4 years in school to become something they have to eventually take a test to get into anyway. It's redundant.

Agreed. It doesn't take four years to memorize a load of book work as an adult. The best learning is done with actual on site experience.

I learned more in two months of co op than I did in years of schooling.

Why do you think lawyers article, mechanics are on the job training, doctors are under the guise of a senior Dr.

But all these other programs your just thrown to the wolves

All a money making scam

The reason we have this system is because of tradition and greed. The academic system basically depends on tuition and fees to survive. Without them, professors don't live lavish lifestyles and research might suffer. That said, most professional vocations don't require four years of irrelevant busywork disguised as pre-training. Law, medicine, consulting, etc are all professional jobs whereby a person can test into at any time.

$$$$$ to get you into debt to accept meager wages and be the governments slave

And to weed out applicants

Every job I ever had I was trained for months how to do it.

Nothing I learned in school applies to what I do daily.

The funny thing about it is people would probably be more willing to support their government if this became a reality. They could actually start off with their dream job they have natural talent for.

Nah what I'm saying it is a waste for many jobs.

Do you really need to go to school to sit in a chair and edit or anaylze content?

To market a product?

Starting in the workforce at 18 ans learning from someone whose been doing it for 15, 20 years
Is more beneficial to me.

I think it's bad that only some careers are on the more simple side of getting involved with. It breeds generations that only apply themselves to make money, lowering the quality of service due to lack of genuine interest.

Andrew Carnegie was educated this way and became one of the richest Americans to ever live...no college education...just public libraries.

Nah, spending four years (or longer) in college proves to these employers that you're willing to sit through a whole lot of useless bullshyt and not quit. You're going to need that "skill" in the working world.
