I gotta say, brehs and brehettes that this job hunting for a gainful full-time employment has me thinking about some things and whether or not I'm going to advance in life (not sure how many job rejections I can take :francis:) because all I can get are part-time jobs in spite of the fact that I'm over qualified for them...or maybe the generation before us should've built a foundation for their children and grandchildren.

Anyways, so it has me thinking with the way the socioeconomic climate is today, I have to say that the younger people, Generation Y are having a worse time than say Baby Boomers. When my dad talks about his youth, he was already building his first house, able to afford a lot of sh_t including taking care of my mom who had the luxury of being a housewife and not worrying about sh_t, job with plenty of benefits, and had a lot of nice cars. All this happened before 25 years old. I was like, "Damn, I can't even get a crappy full-time job so I can afford health insurance." :mjcry:

I know a lot of people in my Generation (I refuse to call us "Millenials") in the same boat in spite of a few doing good, but it's starting to make me feel like if this country doesn't get any better, how would the future look in this country? Baby Boomers are the last ones to enjoy "The American Dream" and now my Generation is going to be running things, but they already f_cked it up for us.

I don't know this job hunt got me like :mjcry: and I'm just marinating on some things.

Entrepreneurship is the foundation of this country and once we all understand that we have to get out here and make moves on our own...progress will happen. I mean, I view the word WORK as a synonym for OPPORTUNITY. If it can be done but it's going to take a lot of work then I'm on it because I know that for 1: the competition will be minimum. It's working out well for me. Try it. Stop relying on others to put a roof over your head and food on your table, know that it can all be taken away at any moment therefore financial autonomy should be the goal regardless of where you start or the path you choose to take. Make your money, save and invest as if you Know it's only a matter of time before that job is revoked. Autonomy should be the end goal, period. View your employer as a mentor, take those skills and the knowledge you gain with the intention of doing that same thing on your own (except you'll do it better).

Vote for trump

But I must ask what's your major...

Even then with inflation a starting salary out of school barely gets you by anyway

Cost of groceries alone are tough

Very difficult to actually save until about 2 promotions

Things are either going to get better if we throw this system in the bushes or way, way worse, and stay that way and that'll be the new norm.

How's your resume looking? Are you doing mock interviews to get your skills and story down?

It's no coincidence that they voted for Hilary, instead of Bernie, and the young people wanted Bernie.

It was their generation that gave us the drug problems, the family problems(broken homes), and much more. They did help with the black power, and hippie era, though!

They're just a selfish generation I guess:yeshrug:

They were born when things were good for the country. Narcissistic mudeesukas!

I agree totally with you on Entrepreneurship, but everyone can't do that, so EDUCATION is the most important for everyone. This country just doesn't value skill mastery. We are taught that good is enough, and that is for things that most don't use in their everyday lives like complex math, so most of us aren't taught the important skills that help you survive, and ultimately build a strong country!

This country needs to go back to teaching children how to do technical jobs, this way they can build skills that can help build new products that can help the world. Teaching them coding helps also. We need to make it mandatory for a child to be taught business, technical manual labor skills, and coding. This will allow every child to be able to create something they can eat off of as they get older, or be able to maintain the structure of the system with the technical skills, and coding.

This quote from the article I linked sums up what this generation needs to do. Y'all need to step up to the plate, or have these old nikkas deciding your fate. They could care less about yall because they are are gonna be dead:dead::smugfavre:

"Give us a break. Millennials are not entitled. But we are frustrated.

We’re frustrated because the same Baby Boomer bloc that created or tacitly perpetuated the policies that have hamstrung Millennials now makes up almost a third of the American voting -aged population and holds nearly two-thirds of the seats of the United States House of Representatives and Senate. This, during a decade-long span when incumbent House and Senate members are richly rewarded for being the most unproductive legislators in U.S. history, respectively winning reelection 94 percent and 87 percent of the time.

Granted, many members of our generation need to learn how to vote every two years, not just every four. And we need to begin to fulfill the civic-minded label - “The Next Great Generation” - which social scientists have bestowed upon us. When we do begin to regularly share our opinions in the voting booth, not just on Twitter, you can be assured that we’ll act to keep this country great. We’ll make the “hard” choices the Baby Boomers have refused to make."

I'm all for more education, more technical skills, etc., but even if everyone was a highly-skilled technical genius, this system is built in such a way that even most of those people would still be just above water on struggle wages.

True, but that's the very reason is why I say those things are needed. It would bea meal for them or just starving.

People may not want to believe this, but I see things going real bad for the middle class in two years. It will literally be the poor, and the rich, the the thing is it won't be so easy to see like in other countries such as brazil(poor live in favelas), based on how this country is made. The look will be different but the premise the same, poor, and rich, very little middle class, so skill is important.

Once the system falls off, those people who have skills can help build the country back up. This is how Japan came up, and Germany came up, they used their skills to become countries that are doing well, now!

See, those who hold tech positions have been proven replaceable. I can understand your point of view @JahFocus CS and @lotty but we need more skilled workers and systematic thinkers. We have to do for ourselves which means tech as a primary skill is not the answer....it's highly beneficial yet secondary to tradesmen and healthcare workers. Those skills are universal.

I can definitely relate...got out of college right when the recession was starting around 2008. :snoop:

And I actually did land a job after only a month or two...unfortunately I got laid off after five months. Was unemployed for three or four months and when I did get a job offer, it was for a job that only paid like 30k (but it was the depth of the recession, so I just took what I could get). Was stuck there for a while before I found something better. :smh:

Shyt's rough out here. I can't even imagine trying to get a decent job with no experience or degree.

Employers stay wilin with the entry level requirements. They be like 4 to 5 years of experience in the Russian government. Navy SEAL preferred.

I graduated high school in 07' and things felt pretty hopeless career wise. Spent a nice amount of time in college waiting for things to pan out and getting a feel for what I wanted to do. I had a few good high paying jobs when I was younger in my early twenties but it wasn't easy and they were few and far between to come by and I also worked pretty crazy hours but I was young and didn't mind. I think one of the saving graces when I was younger was I was able to be on my parents health insurance and it wasn't required to pay for it then. I'm sure if I wanted to work the system and wasn't too proud I could have applied for some type of subsidized health insurance.

I think if you're skilled and or smart and like to work hard there's always a way forwards. I have several friends/people who work for me who are pretty blue collar and they've picked up trades, work a couple jobs and have made nice lives for their families.

I eventually started my own business and there's no turning back so I'm happy now although it can be pretty trying at times and it requires a lot of effort and know how.

Automation will kill off the concept of employment. Then them basic income checks will come since they're too many people in America for gainful employment.
