I don't know that any single group of songs can say they were single-handedly responsible for it, but to pretend that "hip hop" doesn't affect the mentality of people is silly to me. There's an affect and it's not a positive one.

and yes 1st of the month should not be on this list...

No singular song has like BP said and I don't even remember most of these songs, but as a whole there is a negative perception that is perpetuated by hip hop. But I've always felt that people who would judge me based on some stereotype from music are not worth dealing with. None of my friends growing up thought all black people got high because of because I got high.

I think people oversimplify it thinking it's just a song about welfare. I think it's a song about drug dealers coming up on the 1st off welfare recipients. it's a fuct up situation where what little money a hood has gets funneled into the hands of a few cats

chickenhead don't belong that song was great and a great back and forth battle rap between a man and woman. more good then bad

Because I got High can apply to any pot head but because a black man did it it is c00ning? Guess we can't have a shared experience with any race. :yeshrug:

Chicken noodle soup? That shyt was just dumb and fun

First of the month is classic

The dude who wrote this must be new to hip hop or just does not get music.

lol... I really dont like you... lol...

How can you say that the only affect that hip hop has on the community is negative. Seriously. This art is the voice of our community. It is the beauty that emerged from the chaos crack caused in our neighborhoods. Its timeless, and will be discussed and studied for ages. I can go on and on.

Sure there are songs that are silly. Songs that discuss things that we should not be proud of, but its still amazing because it reflects real life. And is very true.

I literally cannot believe you just said that.
