First came the news that the medics were at MJs home....Didnt really pay it any mind. Pererz Hilton was going in talking about MJ was cold and the medics at his home was a PR stunt. Took a nap. Woke up from my nap to Terrence and Rocsi crying saying MJ had died. Immediately went around the house to tell everyone. The only celebrity I shed a tear for after hearing of their death. Checked Perez Hiltons blog again and he did a 180 switching up giving his condolences. The wave was shytting on him for what he said before MJ passed. I'll never forget that. Farrah Fawcett had died earlier that day...I remember someone joking that her family was like "Hey did you hear Michael Jackson died?"

I remember the internet and the streets going nuts. MJ playing everywhere in the streets for the next few weeks. MJs closed casket Funeral , Mariah struggling to sing thru tears and his daughter breaking down.



And then later, out of nowhere. The original demo version (Not the official retail version) of "This Is It" hit the net and it was like MJs last goodbye to the world because it sounded like classic MJ.










Sidenote: First vinyl I ever bought with my own money. Had to ask my parents if I could spend 6 dollars and if I could go to the store alone at 8 years old.

And then he said "hey Issac. Did you hear MJ just passed man?" I hadn't. I had left my phone home on that day, of all days rushing to get out of the house. In the Black community, we call two people "MJ". Michael Jordan and Michael Jackson. I asked him which one and he told me

I just remember feeling numb and like I was outta my own body. I was in disbelief. It was surreal. I was raised on Michael Jackson's music. I literally play one of his songs daily. Have every book written, every TV special recorded. He's like 2pac and Marvin Gaye to me, in the sense that I'll NEVER get over those deaths. That's my Michael
