I remember coming back from work and seeing this play out on tv and I couldn't wrap my mind about it, how could something like this happen in the U.S from seeing people on roof trying to get help from seeing dead bodies floating in the water to that whole "looters" cism.

I had my first full time job out of school, it was bullshyt, but I remember they brought a TV on the floor and we watched it on there.

Small company of about 10 people (I was the only black guy). Sat for hours watching people of color fight for their lives in flood water, White people had no emotion at all.

Then they showed one mangy ass mutt stuck on top of a car in flood waters and the one white woman starts :mjcry:

Meanwhile I'm like :what: if I could get you to feel the same way about the previous hours of black folks

one of the craziest events of my life. I remember being into hurricanes that year since it was so active. The weather lady was talking about this strong tropical wave coming out of Africa and talking about the next name being Katrina. When I heard that name something in my head told me this hurricane was coming right for us and it was going to make history. When it pass thru Florida the forecast had it moving north through the Panhandle OF Florida so I was like :yeshrug: maybe I was wrong. That for some unknown reason after passing Florida it started moving south and the forecast kept moving West till the forcast had it coming right for us. We evacuated to Houston and stayed there for a month. I didn't go to school I just chilled and the people were cool :ehh:.

when we got back home we had our huge tree fall and it took up the whole backyard and hit everything but the house. It actually fuked up the neighbors roof :heh:. This tree was huge by far the biggest tree in the whole neighborhood the trunk took up half our backyard. I remember the trunk standing higher than our two story house. Thats why I don't believe Katrina being a cat 3 when it made landfall it had to be at least a cat 4 or 5 to knock it down.

Same thing happened in Georgia. If one of them tried to crack jokes, we'd call them a refugee
