2nd Quarter.
USC leads 7-0 and they're basically doing whatever they want.

Matt Leinart hits Reggie Bush with a pass and sprints 35 yards downfield...then as he's being tackled, tries to lateral to a teammate at the 18 yard line.

Texas recovers and on the ensuing drive, moves down the field for a field goal.

7-3 USC leads, but the momentum clearly shifted to Texas.

If USC scores and goes up 14-0, do they win the game?

:lupe:

Yes. Had they given him the ball on 4th down they would have won too though.

I understand both arguments.

LenDale had a huge game.
But sometimes having a speedy guy like Bush force defenses to beat him to the edge is a good idea.

Bush was the best player on your team. In a way it's hard to justify not giving him the ball in a crucial spot like that.

Years later, Pete Carroll wouldn't give the ball to Marshawn and well....

Bingo. Funny how history repeats itself.
