him and Michael Brown from Ferguson woke a lot of people up I think.
it is sad what the Black Lives Matter organization is/has become as a sad toothless group that just kind of looks for recognition more than anything these days.
but Trayvon and Mike Brown i associate the most with the actual chant of black lives matter, they sparked something real. i think it woke a generation of people in their 20s and probably 30s now up. one day I hope real meaningful change comes from it.
until then all I can say is RIP, he was a kid hunted down and his life was stolen and it's really fukked up that no one saw justice for it.
With respect, I see those two young men and the details of their deaths to be completely different things.him and Michael Brown from Ferguson woke a lot of people up I think.

I don't disagree with any of that. I was really speaking on the impact both of their killings had, totally different circumstances, but those were the two that I remember having the reactions from people of my generation that I think were kinda lulled to sleep on these issues on the streets that you could feel for the first time in a long time. With respect, I see those two young men and the details of their deaths to be completely different things.
I don't see Mike Brown in the same category of the Black victims of police/vigilante murder.
Trayvon Martin story and Zimmerman acquittal was hard to digest. A reminder that a lot of people don't view Black people as human beings. Minding your business and walking down the streets is justification for your murder. Like they want Black people to apologize for existing, for breathing air.
