BOULDER, Colo. — A 12-year-old girl in Colorado has been detained at a juvenile detention center after allegedly trying to poison her mother twice after the mother tried to take away her iPhone.
KDVR reports that the girl was detained following a weeks-long investigation.
The mother first said she noticed a bleach smell in her smoothie, according to KDVR.
“She thought that her daughter had maybe just cleaned the glass and that there was still bleach left in it,” Heidi Prentup, a local police commander, told KDVR. “Then she started feeling sick.”
The mother’s sickness passed, but she later noticed another bleach smell a few days later — this time coming from a water carafe in her room.
KDVR reported that when the mother confronted her daughter, the girl told her mother she was trying to kill her for taking away her iPhone.
The girl was taken into custody Friday.
According to KDVR, she faces two charges of attempted first degree murder.
Luciana Cordova, another mother with whom KDVR spoke but who was not involved in this case, said, “It seems a little bit of an outrageous reaction to having your phone taken away, but I think it’s also reflecting of how our teens and our kids are so dependent on that, that they’d be willing to those extremes.”
What would you do?
If they sent her to counseling, and clear her to go home could she come back to your house?
Would you be in jail instead because you blacked out after she said "I'm trying to kill you for taking my Iphone"
