I beg to differ because of his age.

I knew a child molester that was a little girl that at 7 yrs old molested a 17 yrs old girl in her bed room in her sleep.

They gave that child nothing but psychotherapy until she was 19 and today she has a degree, husband and a family and is doing ok and still contacts her foster parents to let them know she is still doing well.

I did my time many years ago, with a guy who, 27 days after turning 13 in 2003, kidnapped, murdered, and sodomized an elderly woman. His neighbor.

I just looked him up, couldn't remember how much time he got. In total he got a sentence of 31-42 years. He'll be 35 a month from tomorrow; on October 30 it'll be 22 years he's been locked up. Man was on the street for 13 years, been incarcerated for 22. This is a failure and miscarriage of justice at every level.

His current release date is set at 10/1/2042. If he makes that date, he'll be 52 years old, 39 of those years being in prison.

Anybody who thinks this is the way the system should work, especially if you're black (race absolutely matters here), I feel sorry for you.

He's 13, there should be some discipline but the answer shouldn't be throw away the key.

I've mentioned on here numerous times before that my experiences in the criminal "justice" system, which began as an adolescent myself, have given me a unique experience to most people. Throwing him in prison is the worst thing you could do to him, he's 13.

The guy I mentioned above, was already fried by the time he was 19. I hate to see the condition of his mental state now. This isn't how you deal with mf's like this.

In the aftermath I am not advocating for adult sentencing, for a child. I'm not sure why this stance is so triggering for some of you or hard to comprehend.

He had all kinds of issues at school, misbehavior, said he liked lighting shyt on fire, set a cat on fire or some shyt. He told me and others all this shyt when we were sitting on the same block in the hole around Nov/Dec 2007, give or take a month, if I recall correctly. So he was 17 at the time, 4 years into a 42-year sentence. I was 18. Two of the younger guys on that wing/section/block at the time.

It's admirable that you're trying to see something saveable in him, but psychopathy is incurable. If he gets out of jail, he's not going to have a gut feeling of wrongness that I and I hope you have at the thought of murdering and sodomizing an old person. In fact, transgressing social norms (not always to that degree) is one of the only times people like this feel truly alive and not dead inside.

That means the only real barrier to him reoffending will be his common sense (i.e. if I do this I'm probly gonna go to jail again), not really his conscience or emotions, and he already doesn't sound like the sharpest tool in the shed.

Would you want to be the parole officer or judge who sets him free only to hear he raped or killed someone else?
