Delhi News: Delhi Police have made significant breakthroughs in the murder of a 14-year-old boy, whose body was discovered in the Munak Canal after being subjected to a brutal attack on the night of June 29-30. So far, ten suspects have been arrested in connection with the sexual assault and murder of the minor.
The victim was found to have been sodomised and stabbed 24 times before his body was disposed of in the canal. "A 14-year-old boy was murdered near Veer Chowk Bazaar on the intervening night of 29-30 June by a group of 12 to 13 people, which included at least six minors. The post-mortem report has confirmed that the boy was sodomised and then stabbed 24 times, before his body was thrown into the Munak Canal," stated the Delhi Police.
Among the 10 suspects arrested are Krishna alias Bhola (19), his brother Suraj (18), Ashmit alias Challu (18), and four minors. A notable success in the investigation came on July 18, when a police team, cleverly disguised as Kanwariyas, managed to detain one of the accused, Monu (19), and two additional minors from a Kanwar camp in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh.
Investigations have revealed a revenge motive behind the killing, centring on the main accused, Krishna. "Investigations reveal that accused Krishna suspected the deceased boy and his friends of being associates and informers for the notorious Badhawar brothers, Monu and Sonu, currently jailed under MCOCA," the Delhi Police confirmed.
It emerged that Krishna's animosity towards the victim stemmed from an incident on Diwali Eve in 2024, when the Badhawar brothers allegedly assaulted and humiliated him. "The Badhawar brothers had beaten and humiliated Krishna during Diwali Eve in 2024. Seeking revenge, Krishna plotted the killing for months, according to the Delhi Police." This long-held grudge is believed to have culminated in the murder of the young boy, as per police report.
The Delhi Police continue their ongoing investigation.
