Either his pops did a horrible horrible job of raising him up or he's just one of those types that's more predisposed to mental fragility than others.

Or maybe he had some other things going on nobody knew about. Could be all 3.

So many people walking around with the suicide demon, he probably wasn't even planning on offing himself that day but def had it echoing around in his head.... then one thing just leads to another.

I doubt he was suicidal, it's just that there are situations/circumstances anybody can suddenly find themselves in where suicide becomes a preferable option. he probably realized he was running out of bullets, nowhere to run and imagined where he'd wind up; then concluded death is preferable.
