2/3 of Weapons Cases Dropped by Charlotte Prosecutors | The Crime Report

Most people don't realize how difficult it is to prove murder, attempt, shootings, or gun possession if it isn't obvious...

I took a gun conviction to get heavier charges off of me in Charlotte, and probably could have gotten that off of me if my money didn't dry up, but I was afraid to gamble for I believe 11 years if I blew trial...

That conviction on my record isn't because I was ever caught in possession of a gun, and there was never a gun even found. The transcripts in discovery detail the lack of evidence too...

So these DA's get in situations where they can't prove guilt. Some of this is surely mishandling too, I've seen rare cases of guys get off who were on solo cases and had the smoking gun on them, people should lose their jobs for that. But in a fair amount of these cases, there are alot of mitigating factors that have to prove that a person had the weapon or the intent...

It's even more difficult for murder...

It is pretty common. I noticed that shyt in Chicago over the years. They usually overcharged Black defendants in the hope that the defendant would panic and accept a lower deal. This so called justice system stinks, because if you are poor or worse yet if you are poor and Black and can not afford a good defense attorney then you will probably be more apt to cut a bad deal.

If you got that charge when you were a minor see if you can get the charge expunged from your record.

Same thing happened here a lil while ago.

This dude did a shooting, then picked up his homie (but didnt tell him about the shooting). They both got arrested. The innocent dude stayed in jail for 6 mths, then the prosecutors showed him the tape of his homie shooting. He had NO idea about any shooting. After that the innocent guy ratted him out. Or co operated should i say

Nah that charge was as an adult with a previous history...

Your right on the overcharging point, though...

Situations like this, I don't salute the snitch, because 9/10 you know that you associate with someone who does illegal shyt. So it doesn't matter if you knew about the shooting or not, these types need to choose they friends better...
