2 Arrested in Connection to 9 Fentanyl Overdose Deaths in DC

Two people were arrested and charged in connection to a slew of overdoses that took the lives of nine people earlier this year in D.C., police announced Wednesday.

Sheldon Marbley, 43, and 23 year-old Shameka Hayes, both of Northwest D.C., were arrested Tuesday in the Cleveland Park area of the city. They're charged with multiple narcotics offenses, including distributing cocaine and fentanyl, police said.

Fourteen people overdosed on a lethal batch of drugs laced with fentanyl on Jan. 28 in a one-block radius of Southwest D.C., Police Chief Robert Contee III said at a news conference Wednesday. Nine of the people who overdosed died.


"The amount of fentanyl it takes to take a person's life, you can barely see with the naked eye inside of this vial," Contee said while holding up a small vial during the news conference. One white speck could be seen at the bottom of the vial.

"That's how serious of an issue fentanyl is in communities and this poison that's being peddled in our communities is taking the lives of people," Contee said.

Police said they believe the suspects sold the drugs to the victims, most of whom were seniors, near Half and M streets SW near Nationals Park.

Are people taking Fent voluntarily? Are nikkas selling the shyt knowingly or getting some laced shyt because if your customers die....

Besides everyone knows once people OD on a bad batch of drugs that they put the word out and they start arresting people.

This story was fukked up bc it was sold as coke. Quite a few older DC residents have a casual coke habit(crack was as common as weed here in the 80s & 90s).


These bammas sold the fent laced coke knowing it had already killed somebody.

according to the article the people were buying crack laced Fent not Fent itself. That being said the dealers knew they had a lethal batch and sold it off anyway.

But on the other hand several people ODéd and most lived so if the victims ODéd and they went back for more then It seems that they either wanted to get busy livin' or get busy dyin'.
