MAGA caught on for a bunch of reasons, but one of the main ones was what you pointed out. Fear/anxiety about the year 2043, when whites will no longer be the numerical majority.
Because of that anxiety, they bought into "think of the bigger picture" propaganda which teaches them that loss of access to resources, jobs, and even loss of life are speedbumps to the end goal.

What are you talking about? I've voted Democrat my entire life. ADOS has also advocated voting democrat. Just because we also want to use the fact that we are the base of the party and should use our vote as leverage to get actual policy does not mean don't vote at all. We are in this situation with do nothing leadership in the party right now because people won't demand policy prescriptions from the party.
