:manny: Phase 3 about to pop so its time Marvel got its own thread.

While Black Panther’s world of Wakanda as well as his enemy Ulysses Klaue (Andy Serkis) were introduced in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Birth.Movies.Death. talked to Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige about how T’Challa himself, as played by Chadwick Boseman, will emerge onscreen in next year’s Captain America: Civil War.

“It is a role that he is still in the beginning phases of taking on, it’s a mantle he is only beginning to take on because his father is older,” says Feige of the transfer of the traditional Black Panther role from T’Challa’s father T’Chaka. “The reason we introduced him in ‘Civil War’ is because we needed a third party. We needed fresh eyes who wasn’t embedded with the Avengers and who has a very different point of view than either Tony or Steve. We said, ‘We need somebody like Black Panther… why don’t we just use Black Panther?’ That’s how it went in the development process.”

Although technologically far advanced, Wakandans have up until this point in the Marvel Cinematic Universe kept to themselves, and they have also kept their most prized resource vibranium out of reach until a certain homicidal cyborg named Ultron took things into his own hands. Turns out, the Earth-shattering events in Sokovia during the Age of Ultron finale will play a pivotal role in Black Panther taking his place on the world stage.

Feige adds: “Today, pre-‘Civil War,’ post-‘Ultron’ I think he and his father are saying, ‘A bunch of vibranium just got out of here and wreaked a lot of havoc. Maybe we can’t stay behind these borders anymore, maybe we have to stick our heads out and make at least an attempt to be a part of the rest of the world right now, while at the same time protecting our people.’ That’s sort of where we meet him in ‘Civil War.'”
Captain America: Civil War will open in theaters on May 6, 2016 while the Black Panther solo film is set to bow on July 6, 2018.

Though Marvel Studios is set to deliver their second film of the year in just a few weeks with Ant-Man, fans’ eyes are eagerly pointed toward their upcoming plans for Spider-Man. We spoke with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige this weekend about the upcoming film, but in his interview with Birth.Movies.Death, Feige mentioned a unique influence for the planned reboot: John Hughes.
“It’s the soap opera in high school, and those supporting characters, that are interesting,” Feige said. “Just as we hadn’t seen a heist movie in a long time, or a shrinking movie in a long time, we haven’t seen a John Hughes movie in a long time. Not that we can make a John Hughes movie – only John Hughes could – but we’re inspired by him, and merging that with the superhero genre in a way we haven’t done before excites us.”
Feige also went on to mention that Spider-Man’s “deep bench of rogues” is an advantage for them moving forward, saying currently they’re interested in using villains that fans haven’t seen before on the big screen.
The conversation also shifted toward Marvel’s upcoming adaptation of Doctor Strange, which is set to begin shooting this year in London.
“We send Ant-Man on a very weird, mind-bending journey at the end of Ant-Man. It was something we hadn’t seen in a shrinking movie before, but it also represents the tip of the mind-bending weirdness we’re going to do in Strange, which I think will surprise people.”
Tom Holland (The Impossible, In the Heart of the Sea) will play Peter Parker/Spider-Man in their next Spider-Man film, which will be directed by Jon Watts (Cop Car). The film is set to hit theaters on July 28. 2017. Doctor Strange, meanwhile, is scripted by Jon Spaihts and will be directed by Scott Derickson. Benedict Cumberbatch will star as the title character in the film, which is scheduled to hit theaters on November 4, 2016.

T'Challa will actually side with Tony Stark
initially, though his loyalties may shift as the story progresses. This obviously places him in direct conflict with Captain America, and the two ultimately come to blows. As expected, Panther's costume is "shrouded in Vibranium", and during his battle with Rogers we'll see him "scratching Cap's shield easily and his prowess will prove to be a viable threat." We can also expect to see a "sleek Panther jet of some type," which apparently looks very "Stark-like."

War Machine will be getting a huge armoury upgrade, and is said to appear more "tank-like" in the film. He'll also have a new shoulder cannon which can be detached and "used as a kind of warhammer/baton."

Hawkeye has been slowly morphing from his Ultimate version to the Marvel 616 version, and will be adding more purple and flair in CIVIL WAR, as well as a full right sleeve to his costume.

Scott Lang WILL debut his Giant-Man persona in this threequel, and he'll have a brand new "modern/techno stylish" outfit to go with it. Reportedly there will also be what sounds like an awesome visual of the character as Ant-Man, "standing on one of Hawkeye's arrows, ready to be launched."

Falcon will be getting a few additions such as wrist lasers, grappling hooks, and... Redwing! Fans have wondered if we'd see Sam Wilson's falcon sidekick at any point, and he will debut in Civil War, but with one major alteration: he'll actually be a robotic drone that'll be "linked" to Falcon, but that he obviously doesn't control telepathically.

Cap will be adding his trademark chainmail armour to his costume.

Kevin Feige Reveals SPIDER-MAN, GOTG2, DOCTOR STRANGE & THOR 3 Production Dates

There have been plenty of details from Marvel president Kevin Feige recently, and today he has discussed the commencement of shooting on a number of Phase Three projects; plus, get an update on the production of Captain America: Civil War.

Marvel's next few years will be very busy indeed, with the Russo brothers-directed Captain America: Civil War due for release in May 2016, Doctor Strange to follow, then a trio of films arriving in 2017 (Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 2, Spider-Man and Thor: Ragnarok). Kevin Feige was recently quizzed on the current production slate for their upcoming movies, revealing that they "literally just crossed the halfway mark of Civil War last week, it's day 42 or 43 of 80. We start filmingDoctor Strange in London in November. We start shooting Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 2 in February-March [2016]. We start filmingThor: Ragnarok and Spider-Man around the same time, around June of next year." It was previously confirmed that James Gunn's GOTG: Vol 2 will be shot at the new Pinewood Studios in Atlanta, though there's no word on where the Spider-Man reboot or Thor threequel will host production.
