Cudi & Mac did it without the radio or any real promotion.

They have 2 of the strongest fan bases out there for any genre in their era.

Selling 200k total when your last album a year earlier did 400k total doesn't show a strong fan base in my opinion

Record sales in general are diminishing across the board.

Both Mac and Cudi headlined national tours of their own across the country this year.

Not many "hip hop" acts can say that.
